What's new with link surveys

Written by Alex Bitca

We've shipped a set of updates to link survey campaigns, including new

controls, kiosk improvements, and several fixes. Here's a full breakdown.

QR codes for link campaigns

Both regular and anonymous link campaigns now have a built-in QR code generator. Open the Link section of any link campaign, click "Show QR code," and you'll get a downloadable PNG. Useful for print materials like receipts, table cards, or kiosk signage where the survey URL needs to be physically accessible.

Configurable response throttle

Link campaigns now have a proper throttle setting. Previously, there was a hidden 60-minute default with no way to change it. You can now set the throttle window in seconds, minutes, hours, or days, and choose whether it applies to this campaign only or across all campaigns.

When a throttled contact tries to submit again before the window is up, they see a message telling them when they can return.

Note: The throttle applies to identified contacts only (by email address). It is not available on anonymous campaigns for this reason.

Kiosk mode

What was previously called "session restart time" has been reworked into a dedicated Kiosk mode setting. It's now clearly separated from the throttle and has its own set of controls.

When enabled, the survey automatically resets after a period of inactivity or after a completed submission, bringing the device back to the first page. This is designed for shared physical devices like tablets at a checkout counter or a reception desk.

A few specifics worth knowing:

  • The timer now supports both seconds and minutes, selectable from a dropdown

  • After a submission, you can optionally show a countdown on the Thank You page so the next person can see when the survey will be ready

Daily survey limit

Link campaigns now support a daily response cap, the same way email and in-app campaigns already did. Toggle it on, set a number, and once that many new responses have been collected in a day, new visitors see a message letting them know the survey is not collecting responses at the moment and inviting them to come back later.

"Already answered" screen

When a respondent opens a link they already submitted, they now see a dedicated screen: "Thanks again, your response for this survey has already been recorded." Previously, they were shown the same Thank You page as first-time submitters, which could be confusing, especially if that page had a redirect configured.

Anonymous campaigns: kiosk mode, daily limit, and custom properties

Kiosk mode and the daily survey limit are now available on anonymous campaigns as well.

The bigger addition: anonymous link campaigns now support custom URL properties. You can append non-identifying parameters to the URL (for example, a store location, a product category, or a campaign source) and those values will be stored with each response, making it easier to segment or filter feedback after the fact.

Important: passing identifying fields like email, first name, or last name to an anonymous survey will show the respondent an error. Stick to non-personal attributes.

Before appending new properties to any link URL, create the property first in your contact attributes settings and set the correct data type. If you pass a property that doesn't exist yet, the system will try to guess the type automatically, and it may get it wrong.
