Migrating from Delighted to Retently

Written by Alex Bitca

When moving from Delighted to Retently, you can bring over two important types of data:

  1. Historical survey responses

  2. Unsubscribed and bounced contacts

Retently doesn't support the "Sent/Scheduled surveys" option.

This ensures continuity in your reporting and protects your deliverability moving forward.

Import historical survey responses

Importing past responses allows you to continue tracking trends and performance in Retently without losing historical context.

Step 1: Export survey responses from Delighted

  1. Go to your Dashboard in Delighted

  2. In the left sidebar, scroll down and click Export Data

  3. Select Survey Responses (important: do not select “Sent/Scheduled surveys”)

  4. Choose your preferred date range

    • Recommended: All time

  5. Click Export CSV

You can follow their official tutorial on exporting survey data: https://delighted-help-160b834b9adfde78ebef1528.helpscoutdocs.com/article/544-exporting-data#how.

Step 2: Import the CSV into Retently

Once your file is ready:

  1. Upload the CSV file into Retently using the import feature

  2. Follow the steps shown in the screencast below to map and confirm your data

Import unsubscribed and bounced contacts

Importing these contacts ensures that:

  • You do not re-contact unsubscribed users

  • You avoid sending to invalid emails, which helps protect your deliverability and performance

Step 1: Export unsubscribed and bounced contacts from Delighted

  1. Go to People

  2. In the left sidebar, apply the Unsubscribed filter

  3. Click Export as CSV

  4. Stay in the People section

  5. Apply the Bounced filter (if relevant)

  6. Click Export as CSV

Step 2: Import into Retently (Suppression list)

  1. Navigate to:
Settings → Suppress contacts (CSV) or open directly: https://app.retently.com/customers/import?mode=suppress

  2. Upload your CSV file(s)

  3. Wait for processing

Important notes

  • The CSV file must include valid email addresses

  • Email is the only required field for suppression

  • Processing time depends on file size and may take a few minutes

By completing these steps, you ensure a clean transition to Retently, preserving your historical data while maintaining strong deliverability and customer experience.
