One of the ways to install the in-app survey, if you do not have direct access to your website or app, is to use GTM (Google Tag Manager).

If you already have GTM on your website, please check if you have a Data Layer as well; if not, please consult the Google’s guidelines to build one.

To install the in-app script, log into your GTM account and create a new tag. Next, select the Custom HTML tag and paste in it the script snippet from the Setup page of your campaign.

At this step, ensure the campaign is ready to launch and turn it on. Next, set up your GTM triggers within the same tag setup. If you do not have any special preferences, select the initialisation trigger.

Adjust the Tag's contents based on the properties you have in your account and that you are collecting through the data layer.

On top of this, feel free to add additional tags and properties the same way as in this article.

Troubleshooting: The survey doesn't work

There could be several reasons why your Google Tag Manager (GTM) tag is not firing. Here are some common issues that you can check:

  1. Ensure the tag is published: If it is not published, it will not fire. Check the "Versions" tab in GTM and ensure the correct version is published.

  2. Check the trigger conditions: The tag may not be firing because the trigger conditions are not set up correctly. Check the trigger conditions to ensure they match the events you want the tag to fire on.

  3. Verify the tag is installed correctly: Check that the GTM container code is installed correctly on your website. You can use the Google Tag Assistant Chrome extension to verify the container code installation.

  4. Test the tag in Preview mode: Preview mode in GTM allows you to test your tags before publishing them. Preview mode will also show you if the tag is firing or not.

  5. Ensure ad blockers do not block the tag: Some ad blockers may block GTM tags from firing. Check if your ad blocker is blocking GTM and temporarily disable it to test the tag.

  6. Check the tag configuration: Double-check the tag configuration to ensure all the necessary fields are filled in correctly.

If none of these steps solve the issue, you may need to troubleshoot the tag further or seek assistance from GTM support.
