This guide will show you how to generate a QR code for your Link Survey Campaign, allowing you to collect feedback from physical kiosks, invoices, flyers, or other printed materials.

Step 1: Prepare Your Survey Link

Before creating your QR code, please ensure you have your survey link ready from your Link Survey Campaign in Retently. You can find it in your campaign’s settings.

Make sure your link includes all necessary identifiers or properties (like email or customer data) before converting it into a QR code.

See our articles on Identifying respondents and Managing customer properties for details.

Step 2: Choose a QR Code Generator

You can use any QR code generator, and there are plenty of free and paid tools online.

These tools work by converting your survey link into a scannable image that opens your survey URL.

In this example, we will use Adobe's free solution: https://new.express.adobe.com/tools/generate-qr-code

Step 3: Free vs Paid Tools

Most free QR code generators work perfectly for regular use.

However, if you plan to print QR codes on materials that will be reused long-term (flyers, packaging, posters), consider a paid generator that allows you to edit the URL later without changing the printed code.

For example, if you delete or replace your survey campaign in Retently, a static QR code from a free tool will stop working. With a paid (dynamic) tool, you can simply update the link behind your QR code.

Step 4: Generate the Code

  1. Copy your survey link from Retently.

  2. Open your preferred QR code generator.

  3. Paste the link into the field provided.

  4. Customize your QR code if desired, some tools let you adjust:

    1. Shape and design

    2. Colors

    3. Logo placement

  5. Choose a format (e.g., PNG or SVG) and download it.

Step 5: Test and Use Your QR Code

Before printing or publishing, scan your code with a phone camera to make sure it opens your survey correctly.

Ensure your survey campaign is active (switched ON) in Retently. If it’s paused or deleted, respondents scanning your QR code will see an error message instead of the survey.

Common Use Cases

  • Display it on tablet kiosks for in-store feedback

  • Print on receipts, invoices, menus, or packaging

  • Include in flyers, posters, or business cards
